What is keyless remote entry?
Keyless entry systems on a vehicle, sometimes known as passive entry systems, come with several life-changing perks. The biggest bonus of a keyless system is the convenience it supplies. Depending on your car, you can be loaded down with groceries and still get the hatch open with a wave of your foot. Not to mention, you never have to fight to insert the key into the door lock, just press a button and go. The added security keyless entry offers is another big advantage. The electronics in the key must be recognized by your vehicle before it will start the engine or allow access to the interior. There are some keyless entry systems that can lock your doors automatically when you walk away. Lastly, there is the fun part of keyless entry, the remote start. You’ll feel like a wizard when you press a button on your remote and see your car start.
Not all Keyless Entry Systems are passive, but all Passive Entry systems are keyless entry systems. Confused yet? Here is how it functions. Keyless Entry involves the car owner pushing buttons on the key to unlock and lock the vehicle doors and other features like opening the hatch. Passive Keyless entry is where your car keys can remain in your pocket and you touch an area on the car to unlock and lock the doors, or shake your foot underneath the vehicle to open the trunk. One perk of passive entry systems is that they generally include Keyless Ignition. Keyless Ignition lets you start and drive your car without the keys ever leaving your purse.
To be clear, Keyless Ignition and Remote Start are different features, even if they do similar things. Keyless Ignition lets drivers start and drive their car without needing to use a regular key. Remote Start lets drivers start their car via their key fob. Remote Ignition is useful in extreme temps such as very cold or very hot days by letting you start the car and help heat it up in winter. Drivers will no longer get into a hot car again, simply use the Remote Start and allow your car to cool off before you drive away.
A Smart Key is the electronic part of your key fob that is used to remotely access a car. The buttons for your wireless functions are found on the Smart Key itself. The Smart Key then transmits radio signals to your car to unlock the doors, open the trunk, and so on. Some Smart Keys are even connected to the anti-theft system and will not let the car start without them. With so many convenient and fun options available on Smart Keys, why would you choose anything else?
