The Kia Forte has long been known for charming looks and incredible value, and nothing has been altered from that formula in the past ten years. Despite just being ten years old, we’re currently on the 3rd generation of the Forte. You might observe that the 2020 Kia Forte has more of a sporty appearance than in years past. That’s no accident as it was created by the same person that brought us the remarkable Kia Stinger. So, is the brand-new Kia Forte a handsome gas-saving vehicle or a mini Stinger? Honestly, it’s a little of both.
There are 2 powerplant options spread over 6 trim levels on the new Kia Forte. The base engine is a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that produces 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft. of torque. It can be coupled with either a 6-speed standard transmission or an Intelligent Variable Transmission (Kia’s name for CVT). The 6-speed returns approximately 37mpg on the freeway while the IVT returns up to 41 miles per gallon. If you move up to the GT trim you get a smaller engine more horsepower. The brand-new Forte GT is powered by a 1.6L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that creates 201hp and 195 lb-ft. of torque. It can be matched to either a 6-speed standard transmission or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, with each returning 32mpg and 35mpg respectively.
As we pointed out previously, the designer of the brand-new Kia Forte also designed the brand-new Kia Stinger, and there are absolutely some styling resemblances on the GT trim. The Kia Stinger FE is the base version and comes furnished with such features as 15-inch wheels, projector-beam headlamps, and DRL. If you’re looking for more than simply an appealing commuter then you can select 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, LED DRL, LED rear combo taillights, a sunroof, and dual chrome exhaust tips. Inside you’ll discover an 8-inch touch-screen monitor, 6-way adjustable driver’s seat, 12-volt outlets, power windows, and power locks. You can move up to heated/cooled front seats, back A/C vents, LED inside illumination, and double USB ports.
Despite which trim level you select you’ll be enveloped by a wealth of technology. NAV, wireless smart device charging, and a parking distance alert are all options on the brand-new Forte. The excellent thing is all the typical safety tech that is installed on every Forte. The features include Driver Attention Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Keeping Assist. Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Change Assist, and Smart Cruise Control are simply a few of the impressive tech that are optional on the ’20 Kia Forte.
